Whether the ship really is ready to run at the sort of luxury level Ritz-Carlton fans expect remains to be seen. The ship has been plagued by construction problems for years, resulting in a succession of eight delays that have pushed back its arrival by nearly three years. The company initially used a shipyard to build Evrima that had little experience constructing upscale vessels. For a small ship, Evrima has a varied range of dining options with five restaurants, 24-hour in-suite dining and a constant supply of culinary snacks in the Living Room that change depending on the time of day or night. This is a gorgeous area for relaxing with terraced lines of sunchairs and Balinese beds, complemented by tempting infinity hot tubs on both sides of the deck.

The fact that you can access any of these 14 suites from Decks 4 or 5 is a pretty neat feature. Although their total space is 611 square feet (plus the 81-square-foot terrace), these cabins feel a bit too cramped due to essentially being two 300-square-foot cabins. If the appearance of Evrima could be defined as superlative yacht or a miniature cruise ship (or both), the essence of the vessel is faithful to its Ritz-Carlton roots.

Just before its 20th voyage -- a seven-night roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale -- Cruise Critic had the opportunity to visit the luxury yacht in Port Everglades. In addition to a main restaurant called the Evrima Room, Evrima has four dining venues that, notably, include an a la carte restaurant designed by Sven Elverfeld of the three-Michelin-starred Aqua in The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg in Germany. Another lounge space called the Marina Terrace is closer to the waterline at the ship's rear-facing marina area. In the summers of 2023 and 2024 (April through November) the ship was deployed in the Mediterranean (French Riviera, Adriatic, Balearic Islands, Greek Isles) with itineraries ranging 7- to 11-night in length.

On October 27, the ship was planned to reposition to the Caribbean again with a 9-day itinerary (Boston to Nassau Bahamas). The Marina is an aft-located/stern watersports platform providing direct access to the sea and the ship's watersport equipment. I ended my night on my private balcony wrapped in a Frette robe, transfixed by the waves of the Balearic Sea rhythmically foaming and curling against the ship. Another way in which the yacht resembled a Ritz-Carlton property on land, or any other similar luxury hotel, is that certain things that would be included in the fare on a luxury cruise will have a cost on Evrima. Our visit consisted of only a few hours touring the ship, just enough time to get a feel for its design, layout and primary amenities. But it was not possible to test other important aspects of luxury cruising, such as the quality of service and the dining experiences.

The minute we set foot on the vessel it became clear that the ship feels like a luxury hotel on the water. Regardless of the yacht or cruise ship label, Evrima's generous size means it boasts considerable space. We were told during our walkthrough that some 200 passengers had boarded the ship, yet we counted no more than 50 at any given time. What's more, several public areas -- like the Observation Lounge/Terrace or the airy Marina Terrace on Deck 3-- were largely deserted when we visited them. Passengers gravitated more towards outdoor spaces, like the Pool House restaurant on Deck 5, but these areas also never looked crowded. The mega-yacht has an aft marina platform for watersports, providing direct access to the sea.
